11 Aug How Dave Bonollo Followed His Passion By Building His Email List To Quit The Rat Race
Dave Bonollo learned everything he needed to know about building a list to attract clients to his online fitness coaching business thanks to the Bach Business Coaching. The 35-year-old Grafton, Massachusetts online fitness coach almost tripled his email list using Quora from 700 to 2,000 in only a few months.
Along the way, he picked up four new clients.
“Daniel and Eric taught me how to use my time more efficiently by repurposing content instead of creating new material for all the different social media platforms and my website. So, I applied the principle of reusing content from blog posts, Facebook and Instagram to Quora.”
“Quora is sort of like Yahoo Answers a few years ago. People will go to Quora, ask a question and people answer them,” says Dave. “I got into Quora around the same time I started in the mentorship program.”
“Instead of spending 20-30 minutes on answering a question, I just find questions I already answered on social media or blog posts then copy, paste, tweak, and add a Call To Action back to my site or a landing page and the subscribers piled up – 400 in one month,” says Dave.
Dave admits he had zero business/funnel/social media knowledge when he started the program.
“I was very overwhelmed with the whole process at first. They helped me get into the head of the client and write to that one person in my target audience and ignore the rest. It’s made it a lot more manageable.”
It Was About Learning To Sell
Before joining the Program, Dave had never sold anything in his life!
“Daniel and Eric provided me a framework for an email launch and introduction sequences. I had zero idea there was actually a rhyme or reason to them. They also helped me with sales calls. Giving me a script so I can follow something was a huge help since I’ve never sold anything before.”
Dave has been dabbling in fitness training since he became a gym rat during his semi-pro football days. His friends would ask him for workout advice and they would be pleased with the results.
On the day Dave got a negative performance review at the biotech firm where he worked as an engineer, he joined the Bach Business Coaching to prepare for a career change to become an online fitness coach.
“I hung up the contract in my office and highlighted the dollar amount for extra motivation to quit the rat race,” says Dave.
“Everything I do career-wise has the end goal of quitting the rat race. My goal originally was by 37, but after working with Eric and Daniel on the program, I think next year will be more realistic. The way they fixed the foundation of my business and the confidence they gave me, I feel like they accelerated my trajectory considerably.”
“Balancing coaching and a full-time job is tough,” says Dave. “My day starts at 3:30 in the morning to work on the website, social media and prepare sales pitches before I start my day job at the biotech company. “
Keeping It Simple
Dave keeps his coaching simple by repurposing the KISS Principle – Keep It Simple Stupid to manage unrealistic expectations of clients who want to lose weight and get in shape.
“I’m honest with them. I tell them it’s not possible to lose 20 pounds in a few weeks. I use the Precision Nutrition approach to give the client little things to work on. When they get the hang of that, add something else. It’s a simple step by step process that helps my clients get amazing, sustainable results.”
Dave says the same is true about the Bach Business Coaching. Daniel and Eric helped him step by step through the course and responded to his calls when he needed help to complete an assignment.
The Takeaway
“Eric and Daniel helped me focus on a few principles, rather than struggle, as I have been for two years,” says Dave.
“They were with me every step of the way.”
“I highly recommend this program for people who want to start an online fitness coaching business. It is the best investment I have made for my business.”
