Learn The 3 Systems Online Personal Trainers Need To Master To Win Their Freedom And Live Their Higher Purpose

What motivates personal trainers to launch or expand online businesses?

The answer turns out to be surprisingly simple. They want to help others while living their own lives on their own terms with one crucial added component:

More freedom.

What kind the freedom?

The freedom to stop working as a contractor for 30 to 50 cents on the dollar of what clients pay. The freedom to stop waking up at 5:00 AM every morning. The freedom to have the flexibility to work mostly from home and spend more time with their families.

And the freedom to have the time and money to accumulate experiences (and not things) by traveling the world.

They want to do well by doing good. The financial rewards are nice, but it’s not just about money. It’s about a higher purpose, for both their clients and themselves.

Does any of this sound like you? Even a little? If so, you need to read the story of Sandy Letkeman, no matter where you are in your fitness career.

The key: You need to master the required systems to make your dreams come true.

At age 53, Sandy Letkeman is not as different as you might think from 20-something trainers just getting started. She wants the freedom to travel while helping people get fit and healthy.

“My dream was to be organized enough and have sufficient systems in place so that I can work online anywhere in the world,” says the 53-year-old who lives on Canada’s west coast in Chilliwack, British Columbia.

“My husband and I love to travel and we’d both prefer to be semi-retired and spend time traveling rather than stuck in one place. I still enjoy training clients in-person, but ultimately I want to transition them to online while I’m off traveling the world!”

Sandy and her husband sold their business before they moved and Sandy started looking for work in local gyms. But Sandy says the gyms “wanted way too big a cut for me to train out of them so I decided to start training online.”

“But I struggled to find clients and had no idea how to market myself. And the systems analysis work I was doing part-time online was drying up.”

“I knew my old career wasn’t what excited me anymore. My passion is to help make people healthy.”

A crucial step forward was acting on a long-contemplated idea of evicting the tenant to turn the downstairs apartment of their home into a gym.

“I knew I could make more money having a training studio instead of a tenant. My husband was completely on board with the decision and uses the gym regularly himself.”

In just her second month, Sandy ’s gamble is paying off. She wants to make $50,000 a year from part-time work, while helping others, traveling, and living on her own terms (at last!) at this stage in her life.

And it’s starting to happen. Here’s why.

The Three Systems Secrets Sandy Mastered

(1) Mastering Marketing and Sales: “I had no idea how to market myself,” admits Sandy. “I hated marketing and felt slimy any time I posted about my coaching or a challenge I was running.”

All this changed when she joined the program.

“I guess the biggest thing was teaching me how to do sales calls,” says Sandy. “That was by far the thing I hated most about being a trainer, but we did several mock sales calls and that made a huge difference in how I talk to prospective clients. I still don’t love it, but I’m much better at doing them. With more practice, I might even start to enjoy them.”

(2) Mastering Regular Social Media Posting: “People aren’t going to buy your services if they don’t know who you are, but if you are always showing up in their feed, and always providing good advice and value, you will be the one they think of when they’re ready to get a trainer.”

Sandy learned:

Don’t try to do everything at the same time: conception, writing, production, and posting. It’s often best to separate these tasks. You can even use a spreadsheet to plan ahead.

Use the content equivalent of batch cooking. For example, when it comes to the actual writing, do all your posts for the next week in a single two hour time block the week before.

Create deadlines. Do the best possible job in the available time. Never let perfect be the enemy of good. Something is usually better than nothing.

(3) Mastering Creating An Email List: “The other thing Daniel and Eric taught me was the importance of having an email list,” says Sandy. “I’d never considered this before, but I can see how having a group I can email regularly also sets me up as the person they turn to when they are ready to get coaching.”

The Takeaway

“Anyone who wants to transition to the online training space should take this course,” says Sandy.

“You don’t have to have a lot of followers to start because they teach you how to add followers. Their coaching is a game changer.”

Sandy’s journey began with a call to Eric.
